The topic related to new media, new literacies, or participatory culture that I choose to conduct my research on is the Impact of digital storytelling on student learning and engagement in the classroom. Digital storytelling makes reference to the use of digital tools such as video, audio, images, and multimedia to create and share narratives. It allows students to construct stories, express their creativity, and communicate ideas using a number of media formats. The focus of my research will be the potential Effectiveness in Enhancing Literacy Skills which will investigate how digital storytelling contributes to the development of literacy skills, including reading comprehension, writing proficiency, and digital literacy. I will explore whether students demonstrate improved understanding and expression of narratives through digital mediums compared to traditional methods. It will also focus on the Impact on Engagement and Motivation. I will research how digital storytelling enhances student engagement and motivation during the learning process and examine whether the multimedia aspect of digital stories captures students' interest and increases their willingness to participate actively in storytelling activities.

This article highlights the integration of technology in the classroom among English language learners . A survey conducted to understand if  Digital storytelling would help facilitate student learning outcomes especially those whose first language was not english. The survey revealed that integrating DST into the curriculum had a rewarding learning outcome but it was revealed that some students were comfortable with the traditional way of learning which is the use of textbooks and refuted the use of technology. They considered textbooks to be  the main source of educational  instruction. The survey was an exploration of how digital storytelling applications influence English language learning among young learners and focuses on students' perceptions of these tools and their impact on language acquisition, engagement, and overall learning experiences.

Sadik (2008) argued that digital storytelling is an effective approach for engaging students in learning.(Hwang et al., 2023) This is to say that digital storytelling is an efficacious approach to enhance students' learning by utilizing multimedia sources such as images, videos, audio and text. The use of digital storytelling gives students the opportunity to be creative and share their stories in an interactive way. Although it supplements creativity and children's expressiveness it can also promote their critical thinking, communication skills and digital literacy. Different learning styles and interests are catered to hence making the learning environment more personalized to individual students.
